Fetish Flea Market |
Jacques Zonne also organizes the annual Fetish Flea Market at The Web Bar. It’s a wonderful initiative that has been around for nine years now.
It’s especially appealing to young people who haven’t yet been able to afford a full outfit, but we also saw many leathermen who have been part of the scene for decades browsing at the opening, looking to expand their collection.
In a time when nearly every event seems to be commercialized in some way, new participants frequently asked Jacques what it would cost to take part. The answer? Nothing. All proceeds go to charity.
This year, a total of €845 was raised. The money will be donated to De Regenboog Groep, where it will be used to support LGBTQ+ individuals struggling with mental health issues and LGBTQ+ refugees.
Where else do you find this kind of initiative these days, in a time when so many people feel the need to become entrepreneurs alongside their regular jobs? It’s truly refreshing. The past wasn’t always better—in fact, much of it was considerably worse—but we do often miss this kind of effort.
We were also invited to promote our magazine and had a small but beautiful booth set up for us. Unfortunately, we had the bad luck of being placed next to a Marktplaats.nl seller with the typical loud mouth often associated with such vendors. Making thoughtless remarks, he handled our display copies so roughly that we decided to pack up and go home.
But we’ll be back next year—without magazines and on the hunt for beautiful leather. Thank you, Jacques!
