No idea how many websites I’ve built since winning the Website of the Year (Cultural) award in 1996. Too many to count. I genuinely enjoy the process. However, lately, it’s become harder to create a successful site—apps seem to have taken over the Internet.

For years, it was my tradition to start every new site with an image of the Kamikaze pilots. After all, you never know if a site will take off or dissolve into oblivion.

I kept this tradition for decades, until I lost the image—one I had originally digitized from a World War II book. Today, I decided to take a quick look on Google Images, and sure enough, there it was again. Not my scan, but the same photo.
